Hi all,
I wanted to ask before I download ~4GB of data is it possibile to install minisap with netweaver 7.3 on Windows 7 Home edition? I know that in description stays Windows 7 Professional, but maybe someone has tried it and could share with experiences.
If Home edition is out of question, then which linux distribution would you recommend? I have almost no experience with this system so the simplier the better. I would like to run it in virtual maschine (I'm using Oracles one) and it need only for SAP.
Thanks for all suggestions.
Best Regards

I am assuming that your are talking about NetWeaver 7.03 Trial
It would be better to install it on a Windows Server platform. I do not think Windows 7 home edition would make any difference. If you don't have server license, then you can go to "https://www.dreamspark.com/" and download Windows Server 2008 R2.
This Trial is not for Linux, only Windows.
If you would like to experiment with Linux distros, then take a look at 7.0 Java

Hi,
This site won't work for me since my students days are already far away
On this site http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/30a6dbb2-a774-2e10-ee83-9f6432973545 is quite clearly stated
Windows 7 Professional or Windows Server 2008R2 (english)
but I don't know if it will matter for SAP if I will try to install it on Windows 7 Home. What also bugs me is that "english" part. My system version is not englisch and I've already have bad memories with SAP trial version with Java stack (CE1). It could be installed only on englisch version of XP 😕
One last question. If I would decide to buy Windows Server 2008 R2, does it matter wich version I would choose (Standard, Enterprise)?
Best Regards,
Marcin Cholewczuk
The difference between Home and Professional is features within Windows. The platform itself is the same, so installing SAP on Home should work.

Yes, you need to have English installed/enabled on your Windows host, otherwise you will end up with nothing but problems.
Now, are you installing SAP for testing and learning purposes? If you are, then you can download Windows from Dreamspark.
Be careful when you buy Windows, the pricing is obviously different for every version. Since, you only need Windows to host SAP, you don't want to pay for all the features that come with Windows.
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard should be fine. If you need to install more RAM (32GB+) then you have go with Enterprise.
