Single inspection lot for multiple vendor batches

Hello Experts,

Kindly suggest how to map below sceanrio

Quality person picks sample from each vendor batch and carry out one particular test. Lets say Viscosity is tested for each vendor batch.

Later, all these vendor batch samples are mixed together and made as one homogenous sample. And further inspection is carried out on this sample.

These materials are batch managed in SAP at plant level.

During Goods receipt, vendor batch and vendor batch quantity is entered in MIGO

Hence system creates one Inspection lot / SAP batch / Vendor batch.

Since system has generated multiple inspectio lot, Quality person has to do the result recording for each inspection lot for Viscosity.

And result recording has to be done for each inspection lot for each MIC for homogeneous sample .... although it is single sample, but same result have to entered in each inspection lot.

Requirement is :

Is it possble to have multiple inspection lot containing Viscosity as single MIC and another inspection lot for homogenous sample containg multiple MICs

for multiple vendor batches  ?

Regards

There is simple way in SAP.

You can add additional characteristics when results recording like as irregular inspection.

So you define the regular inspection characteristics in inspection plan, and add characteristic to specific inspection lot when you inspect a homogeneous sample.

Raj,

Do separate material codes exist for regular lot and homogeneous material?

Possibly DMR at characteristic level can answer this. With DMR you can skip unwanted characteristic (which you do not want to inspect for certain lot) with pre-defined logic. e.g.

You have following 3 MICs as a part of inspection plan

  1. Carbon content
  2. Phosphorus content
  3. Viscisoty

And you want viscosity to be checked at every 7th lot. So this field will remain inactive for first 6 lots. The logic will repeat likewise for next lots. Explore more http://help.sap.com/saphelp_45b/helpdata/en/2d/350d37448c11d189420000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
