Sap Gui on Mac 10.8.1 (mountain Lion)

Hi gurus,

First time here, my name is Nuno, I am doing my Basis Academy. I just got a new mac and I would like to configure the Sap Gui.

I just got a new mac and for some reason, I can not install the Sap Gui on the newest Apple OS (Mountain Lion), I had a Mac before and did not have any problem.

I have installed the Java SE 6 and 7, download manager and downloaded the PlatinGUI720MacOSX_9-10006059.jar file, but I double-click it opens a new app in the dock with the name "Microkernel" and nothing happens.

Does any have a clue why is this happening?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Nuno,

Looks like SAP GUI for Jav a 7.20 Rev.9 does not support Mac 10.8x. Please see the below following for more details.

Hi Siva Kumar,

Thanks for this information.

Uau, I was not expecting that, maybe I will have to install windows 7 as well on this machine or run the browser.

According to the link they are not releasing a new version soon .

Thanks,

Nuno Marques

By the way, I forgot to say that first of all, under Security & Privacy, you have to check "Allow Application Download form" = Anywhere

and also use this command in terminal to trigger installation screen: (remember "sudo su" first)

sh-3.2# java -jar /Users/<your user name>/Downloads/SAP\ Downloads/NW_7.0_Presentation_/PRES2/GUI/JAVA/PlatinGUI720MacOSX_8.JAR install

Downloads/SAP\ Downloads/NW_7.0_Presentation_/PRES2/GUI/JAVA/PlatinGUI720MacOSX_8.JAR = your downloaded file location.

Hi

I am also using Mountain Lion on MacBook Pro, I don't have any issues using SAPGUI for JAVA (I have both 7.20 and newest one 8.0) on my MacBook or iMac at home that also runs with Mountain Lion OS. I have java 7 update 9 on my both Macs.

however, I had same problem in the begging which I solved by:

1- removed java from computer (search internet if you don't know how to do that) and reinstalled Java from sun.com after restart.

2- restart your computer and while booting, enter recovery, check and repair disk permissions

3- download and reinstall SAPGUI

it worked for me.

good luck.

Hi Haneef

Go to http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25456#section13 and choose SAP GUI for JAVA.

Download the newest version of SAP GUI for JAVA (version 7.30) from here:

https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/bc/bsp/spn/download_basket/download.htm?objid=0120025231000237402120...

You can use provided manual as installation guide which you can download from here: https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/bc/bsp/spn/download_basket/download.htm?objid=0120025231000237393020...

1) Make sure you have latest JAVA installed on your MAC (Version 7.10 or something)

2) from System Preferences, check if you have "Allow Application Download from" set to "Anywhere":

3) Launch installation using Terminal:

java -jar PlatinGUI730MacOSX_0-20008876.jar

Hi Naser

I've a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion but a problem with the installation.

As you suggest I've removed all java components and reinstall the latest java version, I've downloaded SapGui Java 7,30 and the system preference allow application from anywhere...

After all this steps I can't install Sap Gui, when I try to lunch the .jar I see on the dock the java icon (microkernel) and after a few second the application abort.

What can I do to use Sap Gui on MacBook pro?

Thanks a lot for your support
