Safety stock methods - SZ and MZ

Hi,

What is the difference between methods

SZ - Safety days supply from location-product master

MZ - Safety days supply (time based maintenance)

As per literature, SZ is static and MZ is dynamic method.

But both are based on days supply, so why MZ alone is called 'time based maintenance' ?

Hello,

For method SZ, the safety days supply is maintained in product master. The safety days supply is always the same for a specific location/product combination.

While for method MZ, the safety days supply is maintained in a time series key figure which is defined in planning area with key figure function 3005 assigned. Standard delivered is key figure 9ASVTTY in planning area 9ASNP05. By this method, you can define different safety days supply for different buckets.
