Account Assignment Category

Hi sap gurus,

When creating a shopping cart we have different account assignment categories like

Asset

Project

Cost Center

G/L......

How the categories differ from each other...

And can anyone please clarify what happens when the Account Assignment category G/L  or project or asset or cost center was selected,

can we select two categories at a time?

Please see the below my comments.

Account assignment category Definition:

 

Specification of the objects (e.g. cost center, Asset, project) that are charged in the case of a purchase order for a material that is intended for direct usage or consumption.

The account assignment category determines:

  • The nature of the account assignment (cost center, project, and so on)
  • Which accounts are to be charged when the incoming invoice or goods receipt is posted
  • Which account assignment data you must provide.

The GL account is nothing but account assignment data which needs to be specify for each account assignment categories.

1.Asset you have to specify Main asset number and sub-number and the relevant GL account will be determined based on your SAP customization.This account assignment category are useful for capital goods procurement.

2.Cost center you have to specify Cost center and G/L account number.This account assignment category use to account the indirect products like office supplies and you will classify your expenses cost center can be department or product etc.

3.For project specify Project and G/L account number.This account assignment category uses to account your product with specific project. But you need your project number from SAP system and it can be integrated with PS module.

For you last question , yes you can select two categories for single item using split distribution concept.

And also you can assign multiple account assignment categories in single shopping carts.

Hi

Categories which are appearing in your shopping cart account assingment tab is from the attributre (KNT) maintained in SRM Org.structure. Also, list of categories which are available to assign for attributre KNT is based on the configuration setting made in spro -- srm server -- cross application basic settings -- Account assignment -- Define account assignement categories.

Here you can define your own account assignemnet categories apart from the standard one's, but you should assign backend account assignemnt category for each new category you have defined.

Coming to multiple account assignment categories selection in shopping cart, yes you can split the account assignment into multiple rows and choose various categories... but total percentage should be 100%.
