Message Archiving & Deletion Jobs Reqd in BW Systems

Former Member

Hi,

I'm keen to know what are the background jobs that should be scheduled in BW systems to ensure all the PI specific messages are archived and deleted.  Would be grateful if you can provide the job name, periodicity, variants etc.

FYI, we are on PI 7.1 and BW 7.3.  As for application systems, we have ECC 6.0 EHP4 and SRM 4.0.

Thanks in advance,

Abdul

Hello

See section 4. a) of note 872388

    a) Check if the deletion and archiving jobs have been carried out.
Enter transaction SM37 and search for
       - SAP_BC_XMB_DELETE_<client> (Deletion job for XML messages)
       - SAP_BC_XMB_HIST_DELETE_<client> (Deletion job for history
       entries)
       - ARV_BC_XMB_WRP<date> (archiving, step 1)
       - ARV_BC_XMB_DEL<date> (archiving, step 2)........
............Note: All these jobs are also relevant for applications systems
connected via ABAP proxies and should be scheduled on these
       systems as well!

Hello Abdul

Check the SAP help link Archiving and Deleting and the note #872388 Troubleshooting Archiving and Deletion in PI. These contain all the info you will need to set up the archive and delete jobs.

The same jobs that are configured in PI also need to be configured in BW/ECC etc.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your suggestions.  Why should it be that ALL the jobs in our PI system should be in BW?  Should we only have the jobs that are relevant for Integration Engine?

Abdul

Hi Abdul,

Yes, the same Integration Engine jobs are relevant on BW. It goes without saying that the Adapter Engine etc jobs do not need to be configured on the BW.
