HI Team,
We are providing facility to upload attachments along with
Customer details in MDM. Please let us know if there is any change in
behavior of MDM Server regarding additional load (for attached Document) on MDM
repository ??
would it increase the size of repository
exponentially ?
Is there any feature so that we may store these
attchments in content
server or something like that ?
HI Syed,
If you are storing heavy documents in your repository, then it will surely decrease the performance of various repository actions. But the impact will depend upon the size and number of documents being stored.
Increase in memory will also depend upon the size and frequency of such operations in your system. If many users are attaching documents daily then increase in memory will be exponential. If such operations are not much frequent, then it should have minimal effect on Memory usage and performance.
But as time passes and number of documents increase in MDM repository, it will start taking more time in performing search, loading repository, unloading, archive, unarchive etc. So you have to decide accordingly.
Now regarding your second question:
There is no direct functionality in MDM. But you would require to implement such functionality using Portal and MDM capabilities. You can refer to below link for details on how you can implement using separate content server to store attachments and retrieve the same:

I hope this would help you to solve your problem.

Hi Syed,
Storing the attachments would definately increase the size and also performance will be affected( considering many attachments and of big size files)
There are 2 options
1. Store in repository directly
2. link to original files only
you can try out for 2nd option where you need to store the files at a common placa and in repository u give the link for that file.
Hope this helps you
