No of cartons and no of pieces packed in the carton

Dear All,

I have a requirement where i should print number of cartons and the total number of pieces packed in a carton.There are multi level packing for each of the item.I want to pick the number of  master cartons/item and total number of master cartons for the item.

Can anyone throw some light on this?

In Material master, maintain carton and pieces as alternative units of measurement.

Use the conversion rates with respect to sales unit of measurement maintained in material master in the print program.

The mode of packing is not fixed and it may vary from customer to customer.In this case how do i proceed.

In case it is fixed for customers,

Use pieces as sales unit.

If the possible number units in a carton is limited, Say 10. Create 10 customized units of measurement for cartons. Maintained them in material master.

In customer material info record restrict/define the unit of measurement for specific customer.
