Error in sapstartsrv_ccms.log

Hi All,

I am getting below error continuously inside log file ( /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/log/sapccm4x/sapstartsrv_ccms.log)

ERROR: OS monitoring: Error-253 Can not create MTE [Number of CPUs]. Same name but different types PERFORMANCE vs. SHORTTEXT

We have

kernel release                720

kernel make variant           720_REL

compiled on                   SunOS 5.9 Generic_122300-28 sun4u for sun_64

compiled for                  64 BIT

compilation mode              UNICODE

compile time                  Jul  8 2012 20:01:44

update level                  0

patch number                  300

source id                     0.300

Also when we are trying to monitor the alerts for this satellite system from our CEN (SMD) system. We are not getting email alerts and alerts are stuck in status "ACTION_REQUIRED".

sapstartsrv agent was successfully registered in CEN and tested.

I am doubt if the above entry from our sapstartsrv_ccms.log file does make any sense for this error.

Hi Gopesh,

Did this issue begin after updating to the new kernel?

If so please do the exact steps mentioned in the 1503112, and also

update the saphostagent (at least the saphostagent_109.sar mentioned

in note 1453112 for your now kernel level.)

It caused usualy by datacollector because it trys to create the OS

Monit in RZ20,but some MTEs are existing already.

Could You please deactivate the datacollector in RZ21 according to SAP note

#522453: - RZ20: Monitoring operating system data (Option 4.)

After that can be deleted the affected Node in RZ20:"Number of CPUs"

#392272 - RZ20: Deleting nodes (MTEs) (with Option 4.)

In a few minutes the node should be rebuilt.

Then the issue should no longer occur.

Thanks paul,

after following the steps mentioned in SAP Note 1503112, below error is not occuring anymore.

We are already at patch level 113 for saphostagent. and patch level 300 for SAP kernel 720.

But now there is a new issue came after the above note, that OLD MTE nodes are missing and I am not able to find any node for Aborted Jobs and shortdumps etc...

How to retrive those MTE, or do they obsolete due to this new Kernel 720.

Perhaops the background job is not running for the node.

Check SAP Note 660126 Method assignment in RZ20 is lost

Could you check the item 3 of note 553953?
If it is wrong, fix it and perform the item 4.

Hello Paul,

background job is running, and I checked the sap notes you mentioned, it did not help. But the issue is that alerts is reaching to CEN system from Satelite system.

But it is stuck at status "Action_required" and when I am manually processing it using Edit ->Node( MTE) -> Start Methods -> Start auto reaction method , then I am getting alert in email. This same central auto reaction method is working fine for all other sap systems where sapccm4x agent  registered from CEN, but for this specific system , where sapstartsrv agent registered , it is not working..

It might be possible some other configuration missing. My CEN system is SAP Netweaver 7.0 ehp1 and Satelite system is having Kernal 720 and saphostagent 113.

If you have any other suggestion let me know.

Try to update the agent... it should be a bug in your version of CCMSAGENT

And delete the ALMTREE etc, note 1453112
