variant number range

Hello Guru:

When I create variant , the system automatic assign number for me like 01,02,03

can I set number range like

according to characteristic color , variant number range will be A

according to size  variant number range  will be 01-12

Hi Mandy,

  You can use customer enhancement MGW00002 and customer exit EXIT_SAPLMGNK_003

This should help you to control the assignment of the variant numbers accordingly.You may also use the SAP Function Module MATNR_VARIANTS_CREATE as a reference.

You can pass on this information to an ABAPer in your team,and he should be able to guide you further in this regard.
