SAP Solution Manager: Central Job Scheduling management

Former Member

Dear Community,

I'm just trying to configure the central job scheduling management within the sap solution manager (without the CPS).

Unfortunally I'm faced with a lot of questions which I can't solve with the sap help and therfore I hope you can give me an advice.

- Is it possible to set a termination date for a periodical job? For example, I habe a MRP run, that should be executed every hour, but the last run of the job should be the 31.12.2012. Then the scheduling for this job should stop. If possible, where can I set the flag for this termination date?

- Setup an Alias for the Job Request

As described in the Customizing guide, I want to configure an alias for the Job request. The reason is, that the individual user need not to sign and can create a job request. I already applied the following settings, but they do not show any affect - the system still requires the login:

• User creation JOBREQUEST with the usertype service

• creation of the external alias  /sap/bc/solman/jobrequestuser with a link to the service default_host  -> sap -> bc -> webdynpro -> sap -> wd_ags_ejr_job_req_fpm_app and the previously created JOBREQUEST user

Has anyone an idea how to solve this circumstances?

Many thanks for your help

Chris

Hello Chris,

A.  Termination date for a periodical job

As you probably know it is possible to set a termination date in the Job Documentation.

However the expiration date is not being evaluated and as a consequence the job has to be stopped manually.

There are two options:

1. Use SAP CPS by Redwood (OEM license available free of charge). SAP CPS supports the scheduling  of jobs with a predefined end date.

2. Development of a report/job that evaluated the expiration date and stops the jobs accordingly. if you know ABAP it should be not much effort.

In fact this requirement is kown and already in our backlog and if this feature is of high importance for you it will be more likely that this feature will be developed.

B. Setup an Alias for the Job Request

Please watch the following tutorial starting with page 66: http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000332852009E/index.htm

It describes how to setup an alias for Job request creation (please note: tutorial was made for Solution Manager 7.0 (EhP1) and therefore the document might be outdate to some extended)

The setup of an Alias is described as follows in the JSM implementation guide (IMG):

Set-Up Alias for Job Request

Use

This IMG activity creates an external alias to enable SAP Solution Manager users to display Web Dynpro applications without needing to log on separately.

Requirements

    1. In the user maintenance (transaction SU01) of your production client, create a user, for example JOBREQUEST.
    2. On the tab with the logon data, choose the user type 'Service' and enter a password. You do not change this password.
    3. Save.

Activities

    4. Choose Hierarchy Type -> Execute.
    5. Choose External Aliases.
    6. Choose default_host.
    7. In the menu, choose: External Alias -> External Alias Wizard.
    8. Run the wizard and enter the required data:
    • External alias /sap/bc/solman/jobrequestuser
    • Description: For example, "Solution Manager job request"
    • Service: default_host  -> sap -> bc -> webdynpro -> sap -> wd_ags_ejr_job_req_fpm_app
The wizard has created the external alias.
    9. Choose your external alias in the hierarchy tree.
    10. Select Logon Data Procedure: Logon Data Required on the tab.
    11. Specify the user for http access that you have already created, for example, JOBREQUEST.
    12. Enter a password.
The password must be the same as for the user for http access.
    13. Save.
You may need to choose Cancel to return to the main External Alias screen.

Kind regards,

Martin

Hello Chris,

despite the "age" of your request. I have now to introduce the jobrequest szenario with SolMan 7.1. So here is my question. Have you resolved your issue? And do you have any information concerning jobrequest with SolMan 7.1?

SDN and service market have nothing 😞

bye
