Tax code number range consumed

Hi Team,

We are into SAp for 10 years now.

Over a period we have continued to create tax codes as and when required.

Now we are into situation that we have ran out of tax code number range.

As you know the tax code is only two digits alfanumerice we have already used all the combinations.

Number of tax codes currently in the system are more than 1200.

Can anybody suggest, how can we come out of this..?

Hi,

All your issue lies with access sequence which is MWST presence in all tax condition types.
If your all tax condition types could have access sequence JST1 instead of MWST,then quantum of tax codes creation can be limited, probable  with same tax code, you can maintain different tax rate with diifferent Validity Period in the tax condition master records in t.code: FV11 for all the condition types w.r.t Plant, Material, Tax Code for a Validity Period.

Now keep a cut off date, complete all your business tranctions for taxes, changes access sequence to JST1 from MWST for all tax condition types.Create New tax codes, carry out business tranctions.Do all process with special care but do not delete any old tax codes.

why dont you re assign the defunct tax codes with new values.

for e.g if a tz code AZ was used for 16 % sales tax 9 years before, that is no more valied. assign AZ with current relevant tax code.

You can create a new validity period for the older Tax Codes and you can assign new tax percentage for the older Tax Code.

Hi Gokulnath,

   Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you please explain me how can I create a validity period for the older tax codes.

As we know, in Purchase orders the tax calculation is dynamic and if we change the tax codes settings then the tax values in the existing POs will be changed.

In FV12 you can change the validity period and assign newer values for the older tax codes with new validity period.
