Hi,everyone
when i install the ASCS,i got an error
------------------------------------
Connect to message server (prdapp2/3900) failed: MSENILAYER.
------------------------------------
I add the port 3900 manually to the /etc/services,
but it didn't work
Any one Can help ?
Hi,every one
It's the file system problem,i didn't create the /usr/sap/sid/ASCS00 in the first place
Now ,the ascs is successfully installed
thanks all

Is the host on which the message server is prdapp2?
If yes , then check if the ASCS instance is up and running .
If the message server is running , you will get a process running like
ms.sap<SID>_ASCS00 pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_ASCS00_<hostname>
In the DEFAULT profile , please check if the parameter rdisp/msserv_internal is set to 3900.
Also check the dev_ms trace file /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/work and paste here.
The port 39XX is used for internal communication between the message server and the application server whereas the 36XX is used for external communication to the message server by the clients .
Also check if the port 3900 is occupied .
netstart -anp |grep 3900

Hi,
Could you please do telnet ASCSHost 3900. Do you added sapmsSID 3900/tcp to /etc/services and ensure port 3900 isn't occupied in your system.
Besides, read the dev_ms log for more info, and ensure your message is up.
You can refer to below thread for some hint:

Hi,Nicholas
i saw the topic you mentioned, sadly no help
In this case,I notice that there's two port
-------------------------------------------
ASCS Message Server Port 3600
Internal ABAP SCS Message Server Port 3900
------------------------------------------
the first port is in the /etc/servicec file.
the error is can't Connect to the second port.
Any ideas?
Hi Lin,
39xx is the message server port for internal connections. No need bother about /etc/services.
Coming to telnet the reason why it is not working is probably because that message server isn't up !!
Telnet on a port makes sense only when a service is actually listening on that port !!
Otherwise it will fail. Making an entry in /etc/services won't make it work.
Check dev_ms file and publish it logs.

Hi Ruchit,
the message server isn't up,may be i created the wrong file system, now i use another machine to install the system, but when i type
"installmaster/IM_HPUX_IA64/sapinst"
it shows
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[== ] \ extracting... iaextract.c:263: error -3 with zipfile in unzReadCurrentFile
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
what's wrong with this?
Hi Lin,
100 installations ... 100 different errors 🙂
For starters check if any previous SAPinst process is running at OS level. If so cancel that. Clean up your installation directory (temp directory) and restart the installation.
PS: Message server is part of ASCS instance (Message+Enqueue server)
Regards.
