SAP_112027_201208_HPUXIA64.zip failed to install

I was following the docs on putting the above patch in place.

It failed the first time for not being able to over-write a library (libnnz11.so).  I fixed that then retsarted it.

Got MANY more errors and am not sure where to start to fix.

Getting post-run patch inventory...
Cannot verify installed patches (13696224 unexpected).  Continuing.
Getting post-run patch inventory...done.

Patch Installation Status:

Failed to install 1 delayed patches of 82 patches:

The above delayed patches are sub-patches of a PSU, which is either installed completely or not at all.
Check the above failed patches to see which sub-patch of the PSU failed to install.

Then I started to get more and more:

So I tried to install the patch itself:

Verifying environment and performing prerequisite checks...

Conflict Remedy:
Refer to My Oracle Support Note 1299688.1 for instructions on resolving patch conflicts.

(1) How do I get support notes since I don't have access to metalink, and

(2) Why didn't this patch (SBP set) uninstall these conflicts?

(1) To access metalink use credentials specified in Note 758563 - Oracle Metalink access for SAP customers if you does not have oracle account (you purchase Oracle license with SAP)

(2) You need to manually resolve all conflicts that arise. According to SAP recommendations you need to install only SBPs from SAP service marketplace that does not contain conflicts. Therefore if you does not need patches 8507266 and 10296641, try to uninstall them, then install required composite patch 13923804 . Otherwise you need merge patches for all these patches. Learn more about patching strategy from oracle documentation.

So I go to install those 2... which leads me to uninstall 5 more, 3 of which were in the SBP.  Now I have to start the SBP install again.

I thought the whole idea behind SBP was to make patching easier?  This is making it FAR to complex.

Hi Vince,

I had a similar problem and found out, that I forgot to execute FUSER command.

After killing the stale SQL*Plus sessions, I re-ran the mopatch and it finished successfully:-)

Quote from SBP installation guide:

"After having shut down all database processes as described in the previous step, use the fuser OS command to check for stale SQL*Plus sessions:

$SBPFUSER $IHRDBMS/bin/oracle

If that command reports running processes, these are stale SQL*Plus sessions, which you can safely terminate with the kill command."
