We have two instances of Proudction Server in our organizaiton one is CICEP and other is CEERAPPAL.

Both have different Applicaiton Server address.

Both instances have the astm file maintained in the AL11 directory for DIR_BINARY --> /sapmnt/CEP/exe/astm_2004

When user logs in with Hostname - CEERAPPL he connects to this call function and gets the QCI data; but when he logs in with Hostname-CICEP; he is not able to call QCI and system gives an error message as :

Quantity Conversion Interface: No response from external programs

Default profile alaso has hostname as CICEP

It is working fine on one instance but on other it fails.

Config-->

1. Function Routine is maintianed with Call Function

2. In AL11 directory DIR_BINARY --> it has the path of directory and the C File name

DIR_BINARY --> /sapmnt/CEP/exe/astm_2004

Clicking on it ; it has the code.

Please help.

The directory /sapmnt/CEP/exe/  should be mounted on both the host , the CI as well as the APPLICATION server. It should be accessible from both the SAP application servers. The DIR_BINARY should point to a directory (/sapmnt/CEP/exe/astm_2004) and not a filename.

Please check if the directory /sapmnt/CEP/exe/astm_2004 is accessible from the application server and you have proper permission and ownership of the files under it .

Hi Ratnajit,

I did ask the basis team and they have provided the feedback that the directory and file exists on both the Application Server.

However i did not understand the "mounted on both the host, the CI as well as the APPLICATION server".

Isnt the Application server equivalent to Host and CI. what do you mean by CI.

CI refers to primary application server which is the application server running on host CICEP.

Once you log in to the application server which runs on host CEERAPPAL , and go to AL11 , can you click on /sapmnt/CEP/exe/astm_2004 and see the file which has the code.

If so , then you should not have problems from basis perspective .

I suggest you go through the following threads

Hi Ratnajit

CEERAPPAL has no issues; the file is present in the directory and the path is also there. QCI connects well with CEERAPPAL

For CICEP also the directory is present there as per the basis team. But Still it doesnot connect with CICEP. which is the default profile also.

Is there any command to test conection of the directory on these HOST directly at OS level.

Also have gone through the QCI notes you have suggested but it doesnot seems to fit the case.

Do not set the SAPLOCALHOST in the default profile

Set the SAPLOCALHOST in the instance profile of the respective instances.

In the instance profile of the respective application server , set the respective hostname as the value for SAPLOCALHOST.

Then check if you still face the error.

Hi Ratnajit

Will ask the basis team to try and do as you replied; will keep you updated about the result. Will have to plan it n a day when it doesnot impact the users.
