Not able to import ID objects in PI dev server.

Hi,

We are adding a 3rd party system in our landscape for Asset Management process which needs to be integrated with ECC through PI as middleware.

The team that owns the 3rd party system has pre-developed objects for our integration scenarios which they have delivered us and those need to be imported into PI. They've given us .TPZ files both for ESR and ID.

We successfully imported ESR objects through .TPZ file, created the components, products, technical and business system in SLD as per their guide.

But when we try to import the ID objects through Tools -> Import Configuration objects, it gives following error -

"Import failed because of business system transfer of object Configuration Scenario UpdateNotification: Obligatory transport target for business system APM_D not found in System Landscape Directory

See error logs for details "

The Business system is present in ID and following steps have already been tried -

1. Cleared SLD data cache and then try importing.

2. Deleted business system and then re-imported.

We are not moving objects from DEV to QAS or PROD so not sure why it asks for transport target for business system in SLD.

Appreciate your inputs.

Thanks

Rasif

Hi Rasif,

the system APM_D and related objects were developed at another PI system (you wrote: "The team that owns the 3rd party system has pre-developed objects.."). When you import the corresponding tpz to your PI system, then the system is searching for a transport target: How to transfer the name APM_D from that PI system to a Business System on your PI system.

What can you:

1. Rebuild the IB directory objects manually. Best solution, if you have a small number of objects (let's say less than 30).

2. Register the other PI system in your SLD. Link the APM_D to the other PI system and define a transport target. This is an approach (it might be difficult to register the other PI system).

3. Another approach what might be easier, but its tricky and actually a fake: Rename your test PI system temporary to the same name the other PI system has (just the Business System Name in the SLD). The define the target, import the tpz and after that, rename it to the old name.

Udo

Building ID objects from scratch is the approach we are going for as we have 8-10 scenarios only.

Thanks for all inputs!

Hi Rasif,

The following note will resolve this question:

#1604679 - PI transport fails: "Obligatory transport target for business system not found"

Basically it describes the configuration you should have, which is about declaring the source and target for the transport landscape, e.g., DEV -> QAS -> PRD.

1- Set the target for the DEV BS to be the QAS BS;

2- Set the source of the QAS BS to be the DEV BS and the target to be the PRD BS;

3- Set the source of the PRD BS to be the QAS BS.

Configure Groups and Transport Targets in the SLD

Hi Rasif,

In General DEV,QA,PROD Business systems are mapped in SLD through the groups .

You are trying to import ID Objects from some third party in to PI DEV which has no Transport path for BS in SLD so system will not allow to move ID objects.

As suggested by the experts it is better to build the ID objects in DEV.

Hi Rasif,

Do not import the ID objects . You should build your objects using models delivered by third party(if they are available. Models should be available in ESR/IR). I have not seen third party delivering ID Objects. SAP delivers only ESR/IR Objects which contains models. You can use those models to easily configure your system.

You can always find ways to overcome this issue. My suggestion : Build your ID Objects.

One of my blog explains how to use Process integration scenario model to configure efficiently.
