What to do in BW if I need to migrate connections from SQL Server 2005 to 2008

Hi Experts I have a connection between BW and SQL Server 2005 with DB connect and everything works but it's going to be a migration to SQL Server 2008.

Can you please tell me what are the actions to do in BW in order to support this migration.

What should I do to guarantee that the connection works as it does now with SQL 2005.

Somebody has a document or link about this item?

Thanks

So you have a DBCO connection setup in your BW system, correct?

If the Hostname/IP changes on your DB server, then obviously you need to modify the string in DBCO.  If nothing changes on the networking side, then there shouldn't be any problems with the migration.

I really do not see a huge difference in 2005 to 2008.  We have migrated systems to 2008 from 2005, and the only thing we had to do was to run SAP Tools for SQL.

Let's see what others have to say...

Hi Pablo,

can you please provide more detail?

- what DB and DB release is your BW system running on

- you're going to upgrade the external SQL Server from 2005 to 2008, correct?

Hi, we have BW running  over SQL 2005 and we are going to migrate the internal DB to SQL 2008 but also we have SQL 2005 as an external sorce to load information to BW and also it's going to migrate.

What is needed in this situation

Thanks
