does anyone know a report that shows the monthly planned costs for a project and could be exported to Excel???

Hi,
Use T Code S_ALR_87100186, Planned Costs for Each Month (Current Fiscal Year).
Use Report->HTML export for exporting to excel.

I tried to export the report through report-> HTML but it is saving the reports in HTML format which appears as a web page. Am i missing it out somewhere?

You are in right way.
This will result you in 5 files with html format.
Open file ends with %2 in excel.
