Message server host name.

Hi gurus,

   I want to get messge server host name in 7.1 . I have message server field in tcode SMSY->technical system->Java->Test_system.

    Please advise?

You execute transaction RZ11. Then enter the parameter rdisp/mshost.

Click Display .

Then check the current value .

This is the value you need to put in the message server field . This is the hostname where the message service runs.

Hi Ratnajit,

I checked in RZ11 and obtained message server name from here.My doubt is can message server name and database host name can be identical. Because as per note 1661166 ( Instead of the message server host name, the host name of the database is in this field.)

yes if both reside on the same server. Normally message server is where your central instance is.

We have the hostname (server hostname) in that field.

Yes it can be same , if the ASCS or CI in whichever instance the message server resides and the database instance have the same SAP host.
