Hello,
We are planning to kernel upgrade from 7.10 to 7.20 on our NW system.
We have already installed SMD agent on kernel 7.10, so we have saposcol on the following directory.
/usr/sap/<SID>/SCS00/exe/saposcol
/usr/sap/<SID>/SMD/hostctrl/exe/saposcol
According to note 1636252, installation of the newest version of HOSTAGENT is required for Kernel 7.10 and 7.11 system.
Do we have to upgrade SMD agent to update HOSTAGENT?
Or we can install only HOSTAGENT?
Best regards,
Takae
Dear Takae,
SAP Note 1707141 Diagnostics Agent- How to upgrade SAP Kernel
is currently in process but will be reelased in the next few days with information regaqrding this situation:
It depends on the SOLMAN system:
1.If the agent is connected to a SOLMAN 7.0, SAP will provide a note
explaining how to proceed but for the time you can go on with the
agent installed without any issues
2.If the agent is connected to a SOLAM 7.01/7.1: as long as the
you do not face kernel issues, you keep this agent. In case of
issues, you will have to uninstall his agent and install a new 7.30 one.
So for the time being we strongly recommend to use the SAP Note only in
case of OS upgrade to an OS that is not supported with this kernel.
If not, as long as the you do not face kernel issues, the upgrade
is neither mandatory nor required.
Please check the note when it is available again as it will provide clarification.
Regards,
Paul
