Automatic batch determination is decided by the settings done at the item category level and not by Plant. Check the path SPRO->Logistics-General ->Batch management ->batch determination and batch check ->activate automatic batch determination in SD.
Only batch level is set either at Material level or plant level or client level at SPRO->Logistics-General ->Batch management ->specify batch level and activate status management.
