Hi everybody...
Actually in our landscape there is a R/3 system in 4.6 C version and eventually this system will be upgrade to a ECC 6.0 version. My question... Is mandatory to make an upgrade from our integraton plataform (XI 3.0) to a PI 7.0 version? if yes why and if no why to...
Thanks guys, you solved the question

Hi Hector,
this is just one of the main reasons for using an integration platform like XI/PI for building a SOA landscape. The systems are connected via release-independent interfaces, so any upgrade shouldnt disturbe running systems. So, if you only want to use new functionality at R/3 - no problem. As well: if you want to upgrade XI to PI - even no problem.

Udo

hi,
it is not mandatory - why would it be?
if you have XI on a separate server you don't need to upgreade
(7.0 and 3.0 have the same functions)
but from the support point of view 7.0 will/might be supported longer
then 3.0 - ask your SAP reps about it

we have 4.7 EE and going for ECC 6.0
and XI 3.0 which will be upgraded to PI 7.0
Coming to the WHY part of that....
first would be to bettet utilisation of the tech
and all the systems would be on NW2004S, there are somany features which could be used of.
Esp if there are RFC, Idocs being sent out of or into SAP systems through XI (PI)
