We are looking at upgrading our PI 7.1 to PI 7.3. According to what I have read the ABAP stack is gone. We are running NFE 10.0 which uses several ccBPM's in the processing of messages. If the ABAP stack is gone, how will these BPM's work? Is it even possible to use NFE 10.0 with PI 7.3?
If so can someone point me towards documentation that clarifies the steps that will need to be taken to keep the NFE 10.0 working.
Best regards,
David Pauley

As a starting point you might want to see nagheswar blog that gives clear and nice information about difference between ccbpm and BPM..
Hello Aaron,
The note 1743455 will be released for customers next week, it will describe how NFE 10.0 SP13 can be used together with Java-Only PI 7.31 SP4.
The previuos content of the note was changed. Previously customers had to manually adjust mappings and configure channels. This approach is deprecated now.
The new approach does not require any changes in ESR content. In SAPBO SLL-NFE 10.0 SP13 SWCV there will be new integration scenarios and channel templates for AEX PI. In these scenarios the ccBPM functionality is relpaced by a adapter modules. Corresponding channel templates are part of these integration scenarios.
In addition to the new ESR content SP13 comes with ABAP enhancements which was necessary due to Java-Only mode.
Here some links to adapter modules used.

If you do not have the requirement to use Java-Only PI, you can also use dual stack version of 7.31 PI. This version is completely compatible to the 7.1 (ccBPM is available there) .
Regards,
Ok, thanks Ilya and Sunil.
Untill now we have been able to avoid ccBPM so that is why I was curious about the Java approach.
So SAP is developing adapter modules to replace the ccBPM functionality in the NFe scenarios? Interesting!
We'll proceed with dual stack / ccBPM, but I will check back on the progress of the alternative.
Best regards,
Aaron
Hello Aaron,
As of now you have to go for Dual stack installation. That's easiest way in view.
There are few talks going around about the successor of ccBPM, as its in development and will be called BPMN. Seems it will contain the same features as ccBPM and will be graphically presented but in another way. Not sure about its current status.!

Hi David,
PI 7.3 comes with 2 instalation options
1)Same as PI 7.1(Dual Stack).
2)AEX Java stack.
If your customer interested in dual stack PI 7.3 then go for it and all interfaces will work in 7.3 dual stack,
if you are going for 7.3 Single stack then you need to redevelo all ccBPM scenarios using SAP BPM.

RAJ
