Change client number in a BW system

Hello all,

We want to refresh with System Copy our BW QA system by copying the BW Prod system (scenario B3 of Note 886102).

We wouldn't like the client number of the target system (QA) after the copy to be the same as the one of the original system (PROD).

We couln't find any recent document describing the steps to change it. We assume that after the system copy we need to do a client copy to a new client. Does anyone know what we have to do after the client copy in order to make the new client work instead of the original one?

Hello Oren,

From BW perspective lot of stuff. This new client needs tone your default logon client.

Then BDLS etc has to be done.Plus lot of activities related to datasources/infosources. It won't be straightforward. Check OSS notes 793717 and 325525. Documentation for such things can be found in multiple OSS notes normally and then needs to be pieced together.

Hi Oren,

You need to make a local client copy in QAS after system copy for changing the client number, there is no other option for changing client number.

Remember to back up the rfc destinations in QAS before system copy, after system copy you can import them back to QAS.
