Difference between SCE and SCC

Hai,

What is the difference between a Supply Chain Engineer and Supply Chain Cockpit?

I read that SCE is used to model your supply chain and SCC to analyze it.

1. Can't we do both in the same place?

2. Can we also manage transaction data like sales orders, planned orders etc. in SCE or is it just confined to Master data?

3. Is SCE designed for developpers and SCC for endusers?

4. How often are these used in real work environments?

Thank you.

Visu,

You have read correctly about Supply Chain Engineer and Supply Chain Cockpit.

1. The two functionalities are different and both cannot be done in same place. The SCE is the place to model you Supply Chain. Please note the usage of workarea within the overall model that helps you to manage smaller sets of master data for the overall Supply Chain.

2. SCE is for Master Data only and not Transaction Data. You build/model the Supply Chain in SCE which needs only Master Data. Transaction Data comes later and is not part of the model definition.

3. What do you mean by Developers? App. Dev - certainly not. SCE is for your Supply Chain Master Planner or the Power User who manages the overall Supply Chain, modifies it, adds and removes Master Data as required. SCC is for regular planners and potentially management users who are more interested to keep track of the overall big picture. The regular planners can have access to only their relevant Work Areas and through it monitor the micro-Supply Chain through exceptions and alerts to better respond.

4. Tough question but any projects with SNP - SCE is definitely used. SCC usage depends on how endusers are expected to use the solution - through SCC or Interactive Planning or a combination of both.

Hope this clarifies your questions.

Thanks,

Somnath
