I am in the process of performing a homogeneous system copy to build a sandbox system for a PLM implementation. I have completed the steps until post database restore. When I try to continue SAPINST stops with the messages in the sapinst.log file. When I look in the sqlplus_results.log I see the following see that a tns-12560 is displaying during the startsqlplus phase.(see attached cut and paste isn't working) I have found some references to this is because sapinst is incompatible with oracle version 11.2.0.2. The installation master and kernel cd were part of the suggested software based on the homogenous system copy guide. The issue I can see is in the environment variables, for some reason sapinst is setting the ORACLE_SID=PRD instead of ORACLE_SID=PLM which is what I have set at the server level. I know if the wrong SID is set sqlplus will crash with tns-12560 every time. Where is SAPINST picking up the setting for ORACLE_SID and is there a way to change it or force it to accept the value set at the server level.
Thanks Troy
The issue actually wound being caused by my misinterpetation of the system settings. I thought ORACLE_SID should reflect source then be changed to target once DB recovery starts. Once ORACLE_SID is set to a value and SAPINST is started that is the value that SAPINST uses from there on out. I was able to get past this after setting ORACLE_SID to the target SID. Another issue comes up after this for which I will open another discussion.

Did you use the installation master Inst._Master_NW_7.0_SR3__BS2005_SR3 ?
Is the system based on NW 7.0 EHP 2 ?
Is the listener service created and started ? (check under windows services)
Try with this installation master
51043619_11 BS7i2010 Inst.Mst. WIN Server x64 64bit Oracle 10.2/11.2
