Also i also check the solution as suggested on SDN
for the output device you are using check the values entered for fields "Host spool access method" & "Host Printer".
If the access method is "F-printing on frontend", then the expected value for the Host Printer is "__DEFAULT" two underscores
But we alread have the above setting for the output device !!!
Has any faced the similar issue before ?
Thanks in Advance,
With Regards,
Haresh lathia
Hello harsha,
Even i have faced & facing the same problem. In SPAD, try to change the Access method option to 'G' from 'F'.
As Access method 'F' is used for release > 4.6c.
Follow SNOTE: 821519.
You need to follow few Prerequisite like upgrading SAP GUI patch,SAP_BASIS support package, Dependent Kernel patch,
Please let me know after it get resolved.
Thanks & Regards,

On your desktop printer name should not contain spaces. Thus rename your 'CutePDF Writer' printer

hi kathia,
for local printing:
you can call transaction spad -> look for host spooler acces methode > if you use F for Frontendprinting then the value should be for the printer __default .
check the default printer on you frontend, are you able to print from your desktop ?
check the saplpd version/patch
check the sapgui version/patch
do you use citrix or somthing else?

Hi Julius,
the solution that you have mentioned I already had check and mentioned in the post !!
Yes from desktop I am able to print it .
I think the issue is the length of printer name on the client system its more than 40 characters.
Can you let kindly let me from where should i check the saplpd version /patch ?
Thanks for the reply

hi haresh,
dependent on your sap-release you could also use the asessmethode G=frontend print with controls in spad!
this will work, i'am not sure but since 6.20, note:Note 821519 - Front-end printing with control technology
@saplpd:
here you get the newest saplpd version, as attachement on this note:
Note 328252 - Support Packages for SAPLPD and LPRINTG
to get the version of saplpd:
go to the installationdirectory of the saplpd.exe and read the file slpdread.txt!
example.:
README File for SAPLPD Version 6.29
example: C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui\SAPlpd
a usefull note for changing saplpd with sapsprint:
Note 894444 - Tool for server-based printing on Windows (SAPSprint)
