What are the disdavantages of BPM in synchronous mode, how the performance is impacted??

a lot as every ccBPM step is logged and it takes a plenty of time - so it's not very wise to use ccBPMs for sync scenarios

Sync BPMs haev to be designed with caution and with proper error handling. As mentioned by Mike, performance can be the main consideration. Sync BPMs usually are prone to timeouts and hence a good amount of fine tuning and error handling needs to be put in place.
