I understand SOA and I have read a lot of documents regarding SOA.
Have to explain it now but I need elements .Can someone explain me why MDM is SOA?
Thanks
Hi, Stan,
MDM System with all of it's components (information system, staff, rules and procedures ) is a standalone component of Enterprise Information Architecture. It's mission is delivering high quality master data services to any interested party - information systems, users, business logic modules etc, thus it's service-oriented
Examples of services that Master Data Management System can offer are:
- access to master data
- search for master data
- changing master data
- creation of master data
- retrieving master data key mapping information
- replication of master data
Most of these services are available as Web Services in current release of SAP MDM

Hi Stan,
if you do central MDM, MDM does become the leading source for Master Data. This way, in a SOA, you WebServices will call on MDM if they need master data info (like the invoice address, for example).
In a heterogenous system landscape, many system hold master data and use them for their own purposes. But MDM within SOA makes that unnecessary.
Hope this helps,
Christiane
