The 7.20 Kernel is downward compatible with older versions of operating systems and database clients. This kernel is compiled on older version of OS compilers and linked to older database client libraries.
The 7.20 EXT kernel is released for recent OS releases and database clients . It does not support older version of operating systems.
Take for example the following SAP note Note 1563102 - Linux Requirements for 7.20 EXT kernel
To use 7.20 EXT kernel you require either Suse Linux 11 or Red Hat 6.
So if your Linux OS version is older than the above , you will have to go SAP NW 7.20 64 bit Unicode kernel.
Check the SAP PAM for compatibility matrix.
You run the command disp+work
Check the following line in the output
kernel make variant | 720_REL |
This is 720 kernel
For 720 EXT it would 720_EXT instead of 720_REL

I am not able to understand what you intend to know .
If you need to what other OS are supported , then you will have to go to PAM
Select SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5. Then select the database platform tab.
You will get the combination of Operating system version / Database platform version /SAP Kernel version.
