Host name change on the PI server

Hi Experts,

we are planning to change the host name of the PI server (PI 7.1 SP08).  I have checked on the SDN and there are some suggestions saying new installation is better than resolving the problems with the host name change. we want to do host name change with out any new installation. Can anybody please advice and share the experience with the hostname changes on the PI server. Please also direct if there are any standard SAP guides that we can follow to perform this change.
