Solution Manager on Windows 2008 R2 Standard disp+work Stopped

Former Member
0 Kudos

Good Afternoon,

I'm not really sure if this is the right forum to post this, but neverthless... If this isn't the right forum i please ask you to tell me which one is the most suitable.

Today one of my colleagues told me to start a SAP Solution Manager we had in our company which was stopped for about one year (ok, this is odd i know)...

This is my first time looking at a Solution Manager.

I'm sending you a screenshot of the SAP Management Console in order for you to better understand what is happening.

Basically, the disp+work processes can't run, and i'm lost and need some guidance in order to troubleshoot the problem and be able to put the Solution Manager up and running.

What should i check?

Why is there a SMD and a SSM?

Thank you for all the help you can give me.

Regards,

Pedro Gaspar

Hello Pedro,

In the log we can see some network problem messages like:

***LOG GZZ=> 1 possible network problems detected - check tracefile and
adjust the DNS settings

...

***LOG Q0I=> NiIRead: recv (10054: WSAECONNRESET: Connection reset by
peer)
*** ERROR => NiIRead: SiRecv failed for hdl 4 / sock 1156
    (SI_ECONN_BROKEN/10054; I4; ST; 127.0.0.1:58657)
*** ERROR => DpJ2eeMsgProcess: NiRead failed (NIECONN_BROKEN)
DpJ2eeMsgProcess: j2ee state = CONNECTED (NIECONN_BROKEN)

I would recommend to you to involve your network team/partner and check the following note:

1519484 - How to analyze network disconnections shown in system log (BC transaction SM21)

hi Pedro,

thx for sharing the log,

Dear,

first you have to check this link

10054: WSAECONNRESET

hopefully your issue will be resolved and If Not then

If i see the log, the issue is relates to network as said the Eduardo, So, you have to check the firewall & Antivirus and go through these SAP Notes:

Note 155147 - WinNT: Connection reset by peer

Note 413330 - Network timeouts.

Regards,

SMD is the solution manager diagnostic agent which is a default installation on every host where JAVA stacks are installed.

You need to analyze SSM startup issue only.

Hello Pedro,

SMD and SSM are two different SAP systems.

To check why the disp+work processes are not starting on SSM you can check the developer traces files (dev_w0, dev_dips, ...) located in the work directory (<drive>:\usr\sap\SSM\DVEBMGS00\work).
