Connection Test SAPSLDAPI fails - After Kernel Upgrade to 7.20

Dear all,

I have upgraded to Kernl 7.20 lately, and my SAPSLD RFC connection test is failing.

Details:

Logon    Connection Error

Error Details    Error when opening an RFC connection

Error Details    ERROR: program SAPSLDAPI_SID not registered

Error Details    LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host uedcb003.xxxxx.com/ sapgw00

Error Details    DETAIL: TP SAPSLDAPI_SID not registered

Error Details    COMPONENT: SAP-Gateway

Error Details    COUNTER: 8638

Error Details    MODULE: gwr3cpic.c

Error Details    LINE: 1806

Error Details    RETURN CODE: 679

Error Details    SUBRC: 0

Error Details    RELEASE: 720

Error Details    TIME: Tue Jul 24 14:53:32 2012

Error Details    VERSION: 2

I understood that As of Release 720, the program rfcexec is no longer delivered together with the kernel. ( Note 1581595 - rfcexec and startrfc missing after upgrade )

Even though I made sure that the files rfcexec, rfcexec.sec were copied from the old kernel directory to the new exe directory.

Any idea how can I solve the RFC issue ?

I tried the command: rfcexec -a<program id> -ghostname -xsapgw<no> -> as sidadm, in the /sapmnt/SID/exe and also in the /usr/sap/SID/DVEBGMS00-exe directories. The command executes without any output, but when I try to make the connection test, keeps failing.

Any advice is welcomed,

J.

Please check this thread

http://scn.sap.com/thread/1600636

The steps on the above thread needs to be done on SLD system.

Moreover the uedcb003.xxxxx.com is the host on whose gateway the external program has been registered with the program ID SAPSLDAPI_SID and not the one in which kernel has been upgraded.

rfcexec is an executable which can register a external program with a  program ID manually on a gateway. The kernel upgrade should not be reason for the RFC not working.

You will not believe what was the fault.

Recently I upgraded to 720 kernel, and for Java systems, I had to :

Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11

5.2 Additional manual changes in Dual-Stack and Java-only systems

This step applies only to releases 7.00 and 7.01.

  • Only necessary in case of a dual-stack system: you must set the  following parameter in the default system profile DEFAULT.PFL:
    system/type = DS
  • In all Dnn and DVEBMGSnn instance profiles, you must set the following parameter:
    FN_JSTART = jcontrol$(FT_EXE)

After I set these param, restarted the system, the RFC worked.

Yeyyy!!
