Link from PPT to single streamwork item

Hi all,

how can I create a link from ppt  to a single streamwork item. I have tried several things and URLs like https://streamwork.com/items/<item ID>?showItemOnly=true or https://streamwork.com/activities/6dHFh7AjjPSP6mDGZr3d2a#item=<item ID> but nothing works, users always end up in the home screen of streamwork. Acceptance of my community for links that they manually have to paste into the browser is not high.

Any idea how this could work?

Best regards,

Jochen

Hi Jochen,

If you click on the item to display it in single item view the browser will give you a URL that looks like this: https://streamwork.com/activities/OUM8G1fzjzS2t5smNlVN0d?seasip=sap#item=35PenksbhVm-RwCLmhCt0W&view....

If I use this URL I am directed right to the single item

Hi Rüdiger,

as discussed that is not the solution. When you close all browsers and open a new one, paste the full URL, then first a logon is performed and then the rest of the URL is missing, so that you end up in kind of a home screen of an activity, but not at the streamwork item. Looks like a bug.

Jochen

Hi Jochen,

I was close with my first response: The link should look like this: https://streamwork.com/activities/OUM8G1fzjzS2t5smNlVN0d?seasip=sap&item=35PenksbhVm-RwCLmhCt0W&view.... (you have to replace the # before item with &).

Browsers do not send the # to the server; that's why part of the URL gets lost.

We are discussing if we should also change the URL that is displayed in the browser.

Hi Rüdiger,

well, one step ahead. That one works, if I paste the URL directly into the browser. However when coming from a ppt and linking the same URL as hyperlink I still end up in the original problem.

Any thoughts on that?

Best regards,

Jochen

Hi Jochen,

I did a small test.

The URL in that format works:

  • when entered directly in the browser
  • when sent via e-mail and the recipient clicks on the link in the e-mail

The URL in that format does not work:

  • in PPT
  • in Excel
  • in Word

It seems that PPT/Excel/Word are doing something to the link when calling the browser... No idea how to fix that. A quick google search did not help.

Regards,

  Rüdiger
