Sales order. No requirement for the elements in the Bill of Materials

Good morning,

I am creating a sales order for a material (car). This  material has the following bill of materials: wheels (4) + engine (1) = car (1). When I create a sales order for the car, and I go then to transaction md04 to check the stock and the requirements, I have a -1 in the car. However, if I check the transaction md04 for the wheels or for the engine, it doesn´t display any requirements.

It seems like the sales order didn´t recognize the bill of materials.

However, I want that when creating a sales order for the car, a requirement for 4 wheels and 1 engine to appear automatically.

Thank you very much in advance,

Sapanea

Hello Muhammad,

I am trying to do a variant configuration with the links you have provided but I am blocked. I have already created the class with its characteristics. Now, I have to maintain the dependency editor for pricing the material. I have no idea of how should I do it.

I would really appreciate any help,

I have achieved to do the variant configuration. Everything works perfectly (the characteristics...). However, the bill of materials is still not exploited in the sales order. It just displays the main material, but no its subitems.

Does anybody know what kind of mistake am I doing? Do I have to put in some place that the material has a bill of materials?

Thank you very much,

Good morning,

Finally I achieved to do the variant configuration, and everything works great.

However, I have a new problem now. I have a material (car) which is NOT a configurable material, but its subitems (wheels, engine, etc.) are configurable.

I have done everything as always but I had an error.

Do you know if I have to do something special in this situation?

Thank you very much

Sapanea,

I want that when creating a sales order for the car, a requirement for 4 wheels and 1 engine to appear automatically.

A sales order will only produce requirements for items that are contained in the sales order.  In your example, the 'car' will produce requirements.

You have the option of creating a sales order BOM, in which the components also exist in the Sales order.  These components can then create requirements.

Not exactly what you asked for, but very close in concept, is "Assemble to Order".  Here, when the sales order is created, the strategy automatically creates a supply element (planned or production order).  During the creation of the supply element, the BOM is exploded and the supply element creates requirements for the components.
