when to activate the new recipe..

Hello experts,

For past few days we are facing an issue for an particular Raw Material (RM).

For a particular Product there is an recipe (R1) which consists of an RM1 that is required to Mfg the product.

R1 is having an version P001 and its also in avtive status. now the R1 having RM1 is to  be replaced by an new RM i.e RM2.

so the new version of R1 is P002, which is not in active status.

The issue is..

1) if we activate the R1 with version P002 having RM2, then their Process Order will be generated, but RM2 being new the stock will not be available as there was no Purchase Requistion (PR) for this RM also the lead time for RM2 is of 3 months.

or 2) if we dont activate R1 with version P002 then PR wont be generated and there will be no intimation to purcahse team for procurement of RM2. but still R1 with version P001, which is active has the RM 1 and its PR will be continued to be generated in system

so we are in dilemma, when the R1 with P002 is to be activated so that PR for RM 2 will get generated and the R1 with P001 having RM1 gets deactivated till the stock of RM 1 gets consumed..

pls help...

Thanks for your understanding and co-operation in  advance.

Regards,

Jigar

Hi Jigar,

You may try to use the interchangeability features in APO especially supersession chain. It's supported by both SNP and PP/DS. Pl check the following link for details on interchangeability in PP/DS.

With appropriate use-up strategy, you can continue to use the RM1 before passing dependent requirement to RM2.

Thanks,

Hi Jigar,

Why not manually create a purchase requisition/PO for RM2 and manage the validity of PV P002 to coincide with the availability of RM2?

Best Regards,

Mike
