Difference between EDM Elementary profile and Synthetic Profile

Former Member

Hi experts,

I am new to EDM, trying to learn the EDM concepts. I have searched for lots of threads pertaining to EDM. But still I have a few doubts.

Could you please help me on this.

1. What is the exact use of a synthetic profile? If an elementary profile exists for an Installatin, is it mandatory that we also need a synthetic profile?

2. What is a formula profile? Does it have any connection with Reference profile which can be found on EPROFHEAD- REF_PROFILE ?

Thanks in Advance.

HI GEETHU ,

First of all I would suggest u to go through IUT225 than reading all threads 🙂

Elementary profiles are given to customers who have  interval meters

  • A meter which can provide meter reading at a particular intervals like 10,15,30 min ….. is called a interval meter
  • Contains values that are imported or entered manually
  • Allocated to register

Synthetic profiles are given to customers who have non interval meters

  • Non interval meters are normal meters which give a consumption at the end of a month
  • Based on a customer’s previous consumptions we are forecasting  values for a period
  • When the actual meter reading comes the usage factor changes
  • Created for a customer group .
  • Allocated to installation

Formula profiles are mainly used to arithmetic operations

  • Simple example would be adding of two elementary profile
  • A formula would be there for every operations

Rohit

HI,

A profile is an object in the IS-U System that is used in energy data management to manage
interval-related data, now when you don't have any interval data then synthetic profile is used for managing such consumption data. Also Synthetic profiles are managed at installation level. Where as in elementry profile you have interval readings available with you and can be imported directly into SAP.

Pls feel free for further clarifications.

Hi Girish,

Many Thanks for the reply.

So it means Synthetic profile is like a set of predefined values?

Hi,

Yes they are the set of predefine values but the forcasting is based on actual previous period consumption for the the particular meter and also accordingly the usages factor gets changed.

Pls feel free for further clarifications.
