SAP ECC6.0 won't install with SQL 2012

Hi guys

I believe SQL 2012 is now supported by SAP, however after downloading the latest ECC 6 installation DVD's and netweaver kernel when it comes time to install the SAP Database instance it fails with the following error message:

The MS SQL Server version 11 is not supported for the installation of this product

SOLUTION: Use appropriate MS SQL Server version

Thinking it was a hard coded SAPINST issue I upgraded to the latest SAPINST version which is now 722 OPT (Release date Jun 24 2012)

However that did not resolve the issue.

Any ideas as to what to do - I would rather use 2012 than 2008 for obvious reasons.

Cheers

Hi Eduardo

Thanks for your helpful answer, we ended up rolling back the Sandbox system to SQL2005 for the refresh process. But will be looking at your answer for when we next refresh the sandbox as I would definitely like to get this working properly.

Thanks

Hi,

Indeed, we cannot install SQL 2012 directly with the ECC system installation master

As eduardo mentioned with the sap notes are more than to check the same. Also, we need to meet the prerequisites - before going to SQL 2012.

More precisely from the sap note

For ECC system : The Basis patch has to be in the basis SP level of 26

-> Search for Software Downloads

Hi

As far as I know, its not Possible to Install ECC 6 with SR3 in 2012 unless we update the Support package of Basis to 26 in the ECC 6 system ( I have faced the similar situation with SQL 2008 with R/34.7) and it was clearly mentioned that its not possible to import with this version. Even I have cross checked with SAP via OSS message, they have mentioned the same.

Hello Vijay,

You are right, the minimum SP must be observed.
