Bill Of Material In Sales Order

Hi SD Experts,

My scenario is this

" When i enter a particular material ( say Home theatre system model number ) in the sales order, the BOM should be exploded and its package contents like connecting wire of 5 mts * 2 quantity , Speaker stands and its quantity depends on the Music system like that it should be displayed in the sales order..

And also i want to know the configuration of BOM (Material and its accompanying material in the order) for sales order like these type.

Pl's suggest me how to proceed.

Hi James,

Remember to activate the BOM after creating it through CS01, otherwise it will not explode in the sales order.

As we know, BoM- Combination prdocusts together know as One prdouct is called BoM.

in ur eg as i understood:

material : Music sytem(Main Item) which Includes

Sub Items--1)Speaker Stands 2) Connecting wire -5 mtnrs(2 quantity)

Now Create Music System, Speaker Stands ,Connecting wire in MM01, individually as per their material type.

Maintain Main Item, Item cat group- ERLA( if u want to give price per music system) & Sub Item, Item cat group-NORM(trading goods)

Maintain Main Item, Item cat group- LUMF( if u want to give price per sub items individually)& Sub Item, Item cat group-NORM(trading goods)

now Combine the materials(Create BoM)- CS01

Enter ur main item,

Plant

boM usage: 5 (SD)

press enter,

here enter ur subitems viz,

Speaker stands-- qtty( as per ur req)

connceting wire-- qtty( as per ur req)

& Save . ( Bom Has been created)

Maintain the stock for main item - if u want to sell only music systems.

Maintain the stock for all items- if u want to sell all items individually

Maintian the Condtion records for the materials in VK11.

Tcode:va01 create SO.

as i told u above statement,

if u want to <b>price the material @ main item level:-</b>

as per standard sap config,

Main item Item cat: TAQ (rel for pricing, structure scope-explode single level Bom)

Sub item item cat: TAE (not rel for pricing, no structure scope)

as per standard sap config,

Main item Item cat: TAP (not rel for pricing, structure scope-explode single level Bom)

Sub item item cat: TAN (rel for pricing, no structure scope)

Hi James,

As you rightly mentioned, the purpose of a BOM is to contain a list of materials. To create

a sales BOM. use T.code CS01.

Here you give the usage as 5 - indicates sales and distribution as there can be production boms also with a different usage.

After you enter inside give the components that make up your main material, say music system containing

Itemcat material Qty

l 2 mt wires 2

l speaker 2

so on, then save it.

For each of these you should have a material master created. For the main item ie., music system select the item category group as " ERLA " for header level pricing and

" LUMF " for item level pricing.

Maintain item category determinations in VOV4 as

<b>For item category group ERLA</b>

OR + ERLA -

---

> TAQ ( Header level pricing )

OR + Norm + + TAQ (higher level item cat ) -

---

> TAE

<b>For item category group LUMF</b>

OR + LUMF -

---

> TAP ( Item level pricing )

OR + Norm + + TAP (higher level item cat ) -

---

> TAN

This will setup the scenario you wanted. Now when enter music system in sales order with " 1 " quantity it will explode as

2 wires

2 speaker

as was the component quantity mentioned in CS01.

make use in CS01 u have to create Sales BOM only. USAGE = 5 (sales BOM).

And while Creating SalesOrder , It will automatically Explode this BOM based on the CONFIG.

Hi James,

Configuration for BOM takes place thru transaction CS01.Here you can inclusde BOM for a particular material.

Also take care if you want to do pricing for only the main item then your item category grp should be ERLA in the material master.

If you want to do pricing for subitems instead of main item then your item category grp should be "LUMF".

In your item ctaegory in Bill of material fields,your application should be "SD01".

Item category used in thjis case is "TAQ".

Hi James;

Create a BOM first using the T.Code CS01. We need to create a material first with item cat grp as LUMF. Once this is done we can create a BOM in a given plant.

In the BOM you will enter the "Bundle Material" ( Home theatre) and you can add all the item that consititue to the Bundle viz wires, speakers etc.
