What is the use/ application of transportation and Shipment Scheduling in GATP? Which scenarios can be mapped in GATP using transportation and Shipment Scheduling?
I don't want to know the config part of transportation and Shipment Scheduling.
Hi Snehil
When a Sales Order/STO is created and saved, there are certain dates associated with it - e.g. Material Availability Date, Unloading/Loading Dates,Delivery Date etc. If this SO or STO passes through GATP, then these dates are determined based on the config on transportation and shipment scheduling. GATP offers more sofisticated scheduling option than ECC. I would assume Scheduling to be an integrated part of any GATP implementation as these dates are important for almost every business so specific configuration/developments are put in ploace to address the requirement.
Thanks,
Prasun

Hi Snehil
There are multiple advantages in scheduling that comes with GATP e.g.
1) GATP (or APO) offers scheduling based on condition tables and access sequence where you can put more complex selection criteria for scheduling
2) More accurate, to the level of seconds
3) Use of different calendars at Product Location level etc...
SAP online documentation offers you to check some of these functionalities along with customizing.
Thanks,
Prasun
