Possibility of creation more than 10000 WBSE

Hello! I know that this question was asked for severel times, but I still don't have clear understanding. My client insists to create more than 10000 WBSE in one project. Will the system that allow? I've seen Note 206264, but could someone answer me please, that maximum number of WBSE 10000 is only recomendation, or it's a strict limitation? Sorry if I bothering.

Any answer will be highly appreciated.

Sometimes users like to do strange things...

I wonder what is the reason for 10k wbs ?

May be you just need to adjust the process in SAP...say, to review the WBS determination or increase the number projects...

Hi,

WBS elements per project: A maximum of 10,000.

It is clearly mentioned in sap note 206264. So what's the confusion.

So please avoid project with such a big number of WBS.

You may get Run time error & time out error for same.

May I know how do you manage master data of so many WBSs & in how much time system will release your project.

You may break big project into smaller one &  use summarisation technique for reports. This will help you to manage project easily & effectively.

As a consultant its your duty to show correct path to business and convince for same.

Thanks, Pranav! Now our projects havn't reach even 1000 elements per project. I tried to convince my client's specialists do not expand the structure so much, tried to explain that this will cause run time errors, offered to separate project into several, but they don't believe me, they think that SAP may everything. Now you assured my opinion and I'll try to convince them again.

This is common nature of all clients

Now make a small project in dummy server.

Do operations(PR raising, saving it, release it).

Show him the time taken in such a small project.

Now leave it upon them for decision of creating such a big project.

do one thing consult with your basis team and if it is possible decrease the runtime error time and then create a project in sap with at least 100 wbs element with lots of network and activities i.e make a bulky project and then save the whole project at once it will provide him the run time error and then convince him that it is just a very small project in project system it will give error and when you are making a project with 1000 elements it will definitely give error and when they are making such project in production server where so many master data of other modules are already uploaded and where user will do day to day transaction it will give runtime error every time and also it will give dump. so better go for small projects instead of complex and bulky project

Hello Svetlana,

Note 206264, clearly says, that "A maximum of 10,000 WBS elements can be created per project".

Even if you are creating WBS elements up to 10,000 in numbers, it badly impacts your system performance.

So it's not possible to create WBSEs beyond 10,000. You may forward this note your client and explain him, it's a system limitation and you have nothing do with it. Even then he insists, ask him raise an OSS request with SAP.
