Get the license key from the SAP service marketplace .

Go to http://service.sap.com. Go to data administration --> System data . search the system . Open the system . Download the license file.

Apply it using the following

go to /sapmnt/<SID>/profile

execute

saplikey -install <full_path_to_license_file> pf=<instance_profile>

syntax give by Ratnajit above is correct. if you are using any other database other than oracle or a different product change the product name accordingly.

Here is the usage on saplikey

SAP License Key Administration  -  Copyright (C) 2003 - 2007 SAP AG

usage: saplikey pf=<profile> [trace=<level>] <command>

where <command> is one of:

-help. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Display a usage text

-version . . . . . . . . . . . . Display the version of the license key library

-get . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Display infos about the system

-number. . . . . . . . . . . . . Get installation number

-install <filename>. . . . . . . Install permanent license keys from a file

                                 (which comes from SAP)

-show. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Display all installed license keys

-temp <product>. . . . . . . . . Create a temporary license key for the given

                                 product

-delete <SID> <HW Key> <product> Delete license keys

(For each of the parameters after "-delete"

you can use "*" as a wildcard. Remember

that you might have to use quotes to mask

                                  the "*"!)

As far as i know, If your system is ECC6.0 or above ( Netweaver 7.00 or above) you won't be able install the license as OS level.

Hello Nirvikar,

This is because no permanent license has been installed previously. This way you cannot generate a new temporary license. Excerpt of SAP note 870871:

"When can a temporary license be generated?

o  If a valid license key had been installed within the previous
month. If not, the system will issue a message stating that the
date of the last successful license check occurred more than a
       month ago.

o  If the SAP system is set up from a copy of an existing SAP
system, you cannot install a temporary license."

Could you please explain it in a more detailed way: "sap system not allowing to enter with client 000."

Best regards,

Adam

If the installation is more than 28 days old , you can no more install the temporary license . You will have to install a permanent license downloaded from the SAP service marketplace
