Dear All,
We are operating on SAP 6.0 version. I have a querry regarding SD activity. We are currently putting Sales Orders in VA01, however the schedule lines in the Sales Orders are entered to suit the manufacturing requirements like Minimum Batch quantity , Material Availability, Lead times etc. It may so happen that Manufacturing of a particular part number is not aligned with the customers delivery schedule.
Example : Customer wants an Item A : 400 nos in months in a staggered delivery of 100 nos per week. However Manufacturing plant confirms to produce all of them together in the first week of the month. Where do we define the customer delivery schedule in system so that logistics department delivers the goods accordingly.
Good question.
As you rightly said, this is one of the major hiccups in manufacturing industries I came across where there will not be mutual acceptance between Marketing and Production teams due to various constraints they have internally.
Having said this, from SAP point of view, I hope, the scenario what you had narrated is MTS scenario. So in sale order, you can very well split the quantity in schedule lines based on customer requirement. Logistics department can despatch based on this. Needless to mention, decision on where to store the buffer stock is purely Business discretion.

Hello,
In your Sales order once you enter the Material Code, Quantity & Plant, system will confirm the stock on Required Delivery Date if the Stock is available.
This confirmation will be visible in Schedule Line details in LIne Item Details. Here you can change the Order Quantity & add multiple Lines with required Quantity & Dates. Once you do this system will comfirm the required Quantities on given dates.
Thus the entire Sales Orrder stock will not be block, but required Quantity will be blocked on respective dates.
Thanks,
