We have a SAP 4.6C system running on Windows box. We don't know the password of SAPService. But we can start and stop SAP. We want to change the password of SAPService id. It is running on Oracle 9i. Can anyone guide us ?
I referred the following links

Hi,
Process is very well described in the link that you pasted above. Are you facing any issue ?
Thanks

Dear Srinivas,
You can change the password of SAPService<SID> similar to <SID>ADM user.
We don't have a note or specific procedure on this. When you change password best to stop SAP and db and reboot Windows for system to start with new password and everything to be synchronised. Need to change the password in the Windows services that use sapsercvice<sid> and also saposcol.
1. The password for the SAPService<SID> user can be changed using
the O/S Administrative tools to change password ir active directory.
2. To be on the safe side, I would suggest the following procedure :
- Stop R/3 and SAP services
- Shutdown the DB
- change the password using the standard NT user management
- startup the DB
- start R/3
3. SAPService<SID> is the user used by the SAP service, so all subsequently spawned processes, run under the same userID. SAP processes usually run under SAPService<SID> account. If the password will be deactivated - SAP System would not start as SAPService<SID> is used to start the SAP service and processes. If you change the password for SAPService<SID> you must re-type
it for every SAP service running in your system. Open the 'Services' and for every SAP service running in your system service SAP<SID>_<inst-numb> and SAPOSCOL.
Hope it helps.
Regards,
Aniket.
