Dear sd gurus
there are 2 places where the availability check box field switched off
1 in vov6 schedule ine category and 2 in checking group
my doubt is if we switched off availability check at checking group system confirms schedule lines even stock is not available ,here i am asking you what is difference between availability check off at vov6 and checking group
if u feel basic question pl forgive me
thank you so much
what is difference between availability check off at vov6 and checking group
There is no difference between availability check off at schedule line category level or at checking group / availability check level. In both case the availability check is deactivated.
SAP has provided availability check deactivation at two place, to give address "more number of and different type of business requirements."
E.g.
1. availability check off at checking group / availability check level:
A company sells TVs. The TVs are packed in packaging material (e.g. Pallets, Cardboard boxes). These pallets kept track as stock in SAP. Thus how many pallets are there in a plant can be seen in MMBE.
For TVs availability check is activated.
But for Pallets (packaging material for TVs) the availability check is deactivated. Because pallets are ALWAYS available. This is done with checking group or availability check in MMR, Tab Sales:General/Plant
2. availability check off at schedule line category level:
TV has availability check. But for RE (return) process - from customer place back to company plant - NO availability check is needed for TVs. Thus to satisfy this requirement in DN (schedule line category for RE process) the availability check is deactivated.

Venu,
Another way of self learning for below type of questions / issues:
availability check box field switched off
1 in vov6 schedule ine category
Go to VOV6 compare schedule line categories particularly for a field (in this case Availability check) of various processes e.g. OTC process (CP, CN), Return process (DN), consignment process (E0, E1; C0,C1; D0; F0,F1) etc. etc.
And explain to yourself WHY it is configured in this way (in standard SAP).
By repeatedly doing the above, Standard SAP / IDES can be a great tool.
This exercise shall help you at every stage e.g. facing the clients, creating better solutions, learning.
Good luck!

Another important setting to deactivate availability check is delivery item category in 0vlp (zeroVLP).
Understanding business examples when this setting is used could be beneficial.
Another setting to activate / deactivate availability check is Requirement class.
Thus in total there are 4 "places" (not 2)
