Hi Gurus,

I am going to perform EHP5 upgrade from ECC 6.0. DB is SQL Server 2005, OS: Windows 2003 x64, Having below doubts..

1) My Prod is Distributed System (Central Instance on one server, DB is on another server), is there any difference from central system upgrade?

2) what are imp steps need to follow for distributed environment?

3) my DB is MS Sql server 2005, any db specific pre-steps?

4) going through guides SUM tool should be used is it right?

5) when i tried to calculate stack from my solmon, am not able to see target stack as EHP5.

my Solution Manager is at 7.0 SP16, is it because of it? is it mandatory to upgrade solmon to ehp1?

6) For SPDD and SPAU changes which is the best way for dev,Qua,Prod?

7)suppose i have upgraded dev successfully, now am in the middle of qua upgrade and suddenly one corrections or changes required in prod so in this how can i go ahead?

Thanks in advance

Thanks,

Venkat

Hi  Venkat,

All these are answered in upgrade guides and related notes. Anyways some answers from my side.

) My Prod is Distributed System (Central Instance on one server, DB is on another server), is there any difference from central system upgrade?

In theory not much but remember that you need to start SUM on Central Instance Host.

2) what are imp steps need to follow for distributed environment?

Please check upgrade guides. Such questions can be answered here.

3) my DB is MS Sql server 2005, any db specific pre-steps?

Please check upgrade guides. Such questions can be answered here

4) going through guides SUM tool should be used is it right?

Right..  for EHP5 SUM is the tool.

5) when i tried to calculate stack from my solmon, am not able to see target stack as EHP5.

my Solution Manager is at 7.0 SP16, is it because of it? is it mandatory to upgrade solmon to ehp1?

Yes EHP1 and if I recall correctly SP has to be greater than equal to 25 (or is it 22).

6) For SPDD and SPAU changes which is the best way for dev,Qua,Prod?

Again very general question. Noot sure what you mean. Anyways a few hints. You make adapatations in DEV for SPDD/SPAU and save changes in transports. For future upgrade use the transports. Check upgrade guide once again.

7)suppose i have upgraded dev successfully, now am in the middle of qua upgrade and suddenly one corrections or changes required in prod so in this how can i go ahead?

There is something called Parallel Landscapes. Please research around it.

Actually is 23 which is the entry level SPS after EHP1
