How to restrict TECO status for WBS element if open Purchase Requesition exists

Former Member

Dear Expers,

In our company, when we activate TECO status, system is not allowing to create new PR's and PO's.

Our requirement is, system should allow to convert already created PR into PO and should restrict creation of new PR's and PO's

Is this possible with any config settings? If yes, please let me know the way to get it done.

Thanks in advance,

Srinivas Reddy . Y

Hi,

As replied by everybody, TECO is not meant for your requirement.

If you want to restrict this, make a user status, through which you can control the business transactions and when all the planning is done then, you can set TECO.

Hi

Yous requirement is out of logic. TECO status means no more planning activities on the project.

As Gokul said check enhancement available from MM side. I am sure you will not encourage such practices to go in system.

Hi,

Both persons are right. Teco is not meant for your  purpose specified above.

In standard you cannot achieve this by TECO.

You want to restrict creation of PR.

Here you achieve this on authorization level (removing PR creating authorization from user). For same you have to take help of Basis consultant.

For CJ20n, Restrict activity 1(create) for its object. This will result in no creation from CJ20n.

Our requirement is, system should allow to convert already created PR into PO and should restrict creation of new PR's and PO's

Standard SAP wont allow you to achieve this. The reason being, both PR and PO are considered as commitments in the SAP system. When you set the TECO status all the outstanding commitments get nullified. I dont think this would be possible though any configuration setting.

Maybe you can check for some user exit/enhancement in the respective PR or PO creation transaction that will help you achieve this.

Moreover, if you look at this logically TECO status itself implies that the job has been technically completed and there is nothing that needs to be planned. Hence the TECO status disallows further planning but allows actual postings.

Note-What you are trying to achieve is not a best practice.

Hi Srinivas,

When TECO is set, existing PRs will be deleted so you cant convert them into PO. This is standard SAP and no config settings can change the behavior. In fact TECO status is used for this purpose - Planning process is completed and only actuals are allowed.
