Hello,
I´ve maked a system copy of SCM 7.0 with livecache server integrated. Once the installation has finished when I go to start the livecache db with the DBMGUI, not appear any database.
What can i do to install the livecache database instance? The next step is to install the livecache client of installation master (in the description appear this Installs a liveCache client for your existing SAP system application server. You must perform this step on each application server if you want to run at least one SAP application that requires liveCache. Only perform this step if you are using an application that requires liveCache. You do not need to perform this step if you are installing an SAP SCM system with liveCache)?
Thanks a lot.
Hi Ruben,
liveCache is SAP's memory-resident object management technology that helps to speed up performance issues within SCM business processes.
Acording to the EWM master guide, by default Livecache is not involved in any of its processes, however the SCM by itself may use it in some of its scenarios.
Some components of the Livecache have been installed by default with SCM 7.0, but some configuration steps need to be performed in order to work properly.
In order to know if livecache must be completely installed or not, benefits of the software in the correspondent scenarios must be reviewed.
If these service finally needs to be operative in the production landscape, we'll try to introduce it in one of the shared packages of the cluster the High Availability in order to fit in planned High Availability.
To review the functionality of Livecache and how it benefits the SCM scenarios, check this official SAP documentation.

If you are using the EWM scenario :
Here is answer from my EWM colleague: EWM is not using liveCache.
see note 1048230 De-activate the livecache for EWM "
Using EWM in a SCM-system the liveCache is not relevant and may not be activated. However some programs try to use the livecache and run into an error.

According to the overview documents (livecache overview) of SCM-technology site
https://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000198000&
the livecache is optional for our scenario:
Within SAP SCM 7.0 only SAP APO (exeption: SAP SNC Customer Collaboration
Scenario could run with liveCache) requires SAP liveCache Technology and,
depending on the business process, an Optimizer (optional). The other application
components (SAP EM, SAP SNC, SAP F&R, SAP EWM) do not require liveCache or
the Optimizer.
Hope it helps you.
Cheers

Hello Ruben,
-> You need to install the livecache on the alloted server, since it is a system copy hope you have taken the backup of livecache and also at the same time you took your database(assuming Oracle) backup. so at a later point you will not see any inconsistencies with your livecache.
-> Make sure the source version and target versions are same includes patch.
Also for faster response related to SCM or Livecache...you should always post in SAP MaxDB forum.

Medha.

Hi,
You need to install livecache instance on assigned livecache server. This can be done by downloading correct media. Check the version of source livecache & download the correct media from market place.
As you have created a copy of the SCM system, you should backup the source livecache & restore it after livecache installation.
If you have multilple application servers, you have to install livecache client as well on all application server except the server on which you have installed the liveacche instance.
Regards
Vishal
