Multilingual Universe design

Hi All,

We have a requirement for publishing reports in Japanese and English for multiple users. We are using the Business Objects Publisher tool and hence we decided on creating OLAP universes. The data source is SAP BW Bex query. We are using BO 4.0 and BW 7.0.

One connection was created in English and the other in Japanese. The english universe works fine and the reports fetch the correct data. However on creating the OLAP universe based on the Japanese connection, the reports fail to fetch data in Japanese.

We then created  BICS connection to the query and built a report. On changing the locale, the report fetches data in Japanese as required.

Are we missing out something here while fetching data from the Bex query in the Japanese language? To summarise the steps:

1. Create connection to Bex query with language selection as JP

2. Create OLAP universe based on the connection

3. Create reports based on the universe

4. Set Locale to Japanese

5. Check data

Could anyone please advise what I am doing wrong?

Thanks and regards,
Vinayak

Hi Mr. Gole,

Do you have any solution for your issue. We have the same issue, that we have to show the content in turkish and in english. Bu in the connection we have only the possibility to select one language.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

So the BICS test proves that the BW does have translated Japanese texts & supports that logon language.

Have you tried capturing the MDX  in BW (sent by query), then login to BW using JP lang, and running the query in MDXTEST transaction ? (to prove if it's a local bw problem)

Also, you should enable MDA.log tracing on BO system, and see if the BW login language is being passed, check for BAPI errors, and see if the Japanese data is being passed in the XML stream.

Regards,

Henry

p.s. this might be a good candidate for a support ticket
