Hi, I would like to perform a homogenous system copy with backup restore method.
1. Source system : ST1
Database : Maxdb
Operating system : Linux
First i want to take full data backup of source system.
2. Target system : TT1
Database : maxdb
Operating system : Linux
I want to install the target system with system copy with backup restore method.
1. I have given the different hostname when compared to source.
2. Database sid of target is TT1.
Where as it will ask the Perform Database backup .
I Would like to Know,
Even though with different sid , it will successfully start sap after restore?
Hi,
Are the version of MaxDB on both source system and Target system same ?
For a system copy, the following conditions must apply:
a) The target system is a host that has the same behavior concerning byte swapping as the
source host.
b) The version of the target database is the same as or higher than the version of the source
database. This requirement applies as of MaxDB Version 7.5.
Refer to the SAP Note 129352 - Homogeneous System Copy with MaxDB. This note gives you the step-by-step detailed instructions on how to import a backup from a MaxDB database instance into another MaxDB database instance.
Host names <SID> of source & Target systems can be different. You should still be able to restore and start the Database.
